This summer, a team from the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain/INCAL), including Anthony Peeters, Alessandro Novellini and Marco Cavalieri, undertook a major 3D digitisation of the Roman villa of Vergigno in Montelupo Fiorentino (Florence).
Using the latest technologies such as a drone, a laser scanner and GPS, we were able to produce a very high resolution 3D model of the site. As well as updating the site data and creating a new detailed plan of the remains, the survey also helped to highlight the remains of the previously excavated Roman villa.
We would like to thank the Director of the Sistema Museale di Montelupo, Dr Lorenza Camin, for this fruitful and inspiring scientific collaboration.
